nebenzimmer sessions is a live improvisational band concept.

nebenzimmer sessions was founded in 2012 as a live improvisational platform for jazz and electronic musicians. A club event was held at the Leopold Museum in the centre of Vienna for the following years, regularly featuring special guest musicians. The core band consisted of Darius Edlinger [guitar], Philipp Eder [keys/synths] and Michael Prowaznik [drums]. The event location switched to Viennas most renowned Jazz club Porgy & Bess. As the following grew, the concept expanded, leading to a quartet formation called PHANDA, intended for bigger festival stages.

PHANDA is the synergy of four of Vienna's most highly acclaimed musicians of their genres.

Live appearances include support gigs for artists like Anderson .Paak, Snoop Dogg and Squarepusher, playing on local and international stages, being featured at festivals like Popfest in Vienna, United Islands Festival in Prague, Impulstanz Festival Vienna and many more.

Darius Edlinger /guitar, Philipp Nykrin /keys/synths, Philipp Eder /synthbass and Andreas Lettner /drums cross the borders of existing genres and create their own universe of systematically improvised beats which consists of extraordinary synthscapes, forward-pushing beats, delicate guitar hooks and deep sounding synth basses. What makes them stand out as a band is their individual and complex approach to suddenly shifting between timbres and leading riffs without losing their forward-pushing synth and beat elements. Their distinctive sound highlights their love for beats and can be traced back to their musical roots in Jazz, Hip Hop and the various fields of electronic music.
